Giving Thanks

We've been talking about what it means to give thanks in our classroom and how different people all over the world give thanks in their country. We talked about the difference between Pilgrim and Indians and what their schooling, clothing and everyday life looked like compared to ours. Our class came up with tribal headbands with 3 colored feathers to represent what things they have in their life to give thanks for. We also created unique tribal names for each student in the classroom. I am so amazed at the amount of compassion and understanding my students have for others and how quick to come up with solutions to those who are less fortunate than we are. Our school is advocating a canned food drive this year to raise food and money for those less fortunate that need our help. If you wish to donate please send canned goods up through November 19th with your child so that our class can earn points for all the people we've helped. Thank you parents so much for your continued support.

Election Day (Late)

Over the past few weeks our class has been discussing the upcoming Election. In honor of election day we hosted a classroom election to see what it would be like to vote for someone in our very own classroom to be a leader. We voted for a classroom President and a classroom Vice President. Our class did an amazing job with the election and really comprehending what it means to be a leader of, not only our classroom, but our country. Before we held our election we brainstormed as a class about what characteristics we would like our leader to have and what traits would be different or the same for our Vice President.
I am so very proud of the future leaders I have right here in my classroom this year.

We were able to utilize some wonderful resources from pinterest! Check them out. :)

Fire Safety (Late)

This post is a little late coming. At the end of last month we celebrated Fire Safety month and enjoyed visiting with a few firemen from a local fire station. We learned the importance of having a safety plan for our school, our classroom and as well as our homes. Please discuss your family's fire safety plan with your child. As always thanks for checking in!
